MBA B-school campuses in India for Entrepreneurship

A new tribe of MBA - Entrepreneurs is emerging on MBA B-school campuses in India, who undergo the best management training, and leverage it to pursue their dreams. For instance, according to MBAUniverse.com Placement Report 2008, many graduates from all the top-20 B-MBA schools have opted to take the road less traveled. Interestingly, B-MBA schools are supporting and promoting this trend wholeheartedly. Let's take a few cases to highlight this growing trend. At the bell-weather campus of IIM in Ahmedabad, eleven students opted out from the placements to turn entrepreneurs. These graduates have plans to get into diverse sectors like logistics, advertising, manufacturing, agro-processing, finance and IT. At IIM Lucknow, six graduates opted out placements. FMS student Neha Juneja declined a plum offer from the coveted Tata Administrative Services (TAS) to form her own venture called Aisapaisa.com. At IIM Indore, two students chose to pursue their dreams. Their website ourownbook.com provides visitors a chance to participate in a collaborative book writing project. Looks like B-MBA school campuses in India are turning into hot beds of entrepreneurial energy, and big dreams. Are you dreaming of being an entrepreneur too! To spread more awareness and provide useful resources, India's leading management MBA portal MBAUniverse.com is launching a new channel on Entrepreneurship. This channel will be aimed at B-MBA school students and young executives who wish to take the road less traveled. MBAUniverse.com will partner experts and institutions to present tools, guides, faqs and success-stories on Entrepreneurship. To kick-off this initiative, we have tied-up with National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN).

MBA Entrepreneurship Programs at Harvard Business School

The entrepreneurship curriculum was introduced at HBS over fifty years ago. Entrepreneurial management is now part of the first-year Required Curriculum, while over thirty faculty members teach more than twenty courses offered in entrepreneurship in the second-year Elective Curriculum.

The hugely popular Business Plan Contest—the twelfth annual in 2008—gives second-year students the chance to put their learning to the test and submit their business plans for evaluation in pursuit of prizes for the most promising ideas in either the Business Venture Track or the Social Venture Track. During the course of the year, student-organized sessions bring venture capitalists, attorneys, and entrepreneurs to campus to help students understand the dimensions of building a business.
