Allahabad University is a premier Central University in Uttar Pradesh. Sir William Muir suggested the idea of a Central University at Allahabad in 1876. At one point it was called the “Oxford of the East”.
In 1987, the university has completed its 100 years of formation. The university has developed PG professional courses that are being offered by the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS).
