Allahabad University was established as an affiliating and examining body for graduate & PG degrees in different branches of study. In 1904, the University had set up its own teaching departments. Over the next few years, its affiliated Colleges were transferred to Agra University and the duty of organizing secondary-level exams was relocated.
In 1951, the University recognized some institutions as Associated Colleges to teach UG courses under the Faculties of Arts, Commerce, Science, and Law.
