Gitam University GAT Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The GAT(UGT)-2011 (Online Admission Test) is conducted to select candidates for admission to the following programs
* B.Tech. Computer Science & Engineering
* B.Tech. Information Technology
* B.Tech. Electronics & Communication Engineering
* B.Tech. Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering
* B.Tech. Electrical & Electronics Engineering
* B.Tech. Civil Engineering
* B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering
* B.Tech. Industrial Engineering
* B.Tech. Biotechnology
* B.Tech Aeronuatical Engineering
* B.Arch. (5 years) (subject to the approval of council of Architecture)
* B.Tech + M.Tech (ECE) (5 YEAR INTEGRATED DUAL DEGREE)
* B.Tech + M.Tech (Mechanical) (5 YEAR INTEGRATED DUAL DEGREE)
Admission Criteria
The following are the criteria for admission to B.Tech Programs:
i) Pass in 10+2/12th examination from a recognized Central / State Board or its equivalent either in 2011 or 2010 subject to securing the following percentage of marks in specified subjects.
B.Tech. Programs (Except Biotechnology ) & B.Arch. Programs : A minimum of 60% marks aggregate in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry and 1st Class or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination in single attempt
B.Tech. in Biotechnology: A minimum of 60% marks aggregate in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry or Biology, Physics & Chemistry and 1st Class or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination in single attempt.
ii) Score obtained in GAT (UGT) 2011.
Note: Students who are appearing for 10+2/12th examination in 2011 or who passed 10+2/12th Examination in 2010 only are eligible. Students who passed 10+2/12th examination in 2009 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear for GAT (UGT) -2011.
The duration of the test will be 2 hrs. The test consists of three sections:

All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions), each question with choice of four answers, only one being correct choice. Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark. No marks will be awarded for questions not attempted.
Admission to M.Tech. Programs
GAT – (PGT) – 2011 Test Code No. 88
GAT(PGT)-2011 (Online Admission Test) is conducted to select candidates for admission to the following programs
*M.Tech. Computer Science & Technology
* M.Tech. Software Engineering
* M.Tech. Information Technology
* M.Tech. RF & Microwave Engineering
*M.Tech. VLSI Design
*M.Tech. Digital Systems & Signal Processing
*M.Tech. Electronic Instrumentation
*M.Tech. Structural Engineering & Natural Disaster Management
*M.Tech. Power Systems & Automation
*M.Tech. Machine Design
*M.Tech. CAD – CAM
* M.Tech. Industrial Engineering & Management
*M.Tech. Biotechnology
Admission Criteria:
The following are the criteria for admission to M.Tech. Pass in the Qualifying Examination as specified below with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade and Score obtained in GAT – (PGT)
Details of Admission Test GAT (PGT) – 2011 :
The duration of the GAT (PGT) – 2011 is 2 Hrs. The Test is as follows

Note :

ii) GATE qualified candidates will be exempted from appearing for GAT(PGT)-2011, but they need to apply to GITAM University for admission before the last date.
Syllabus for Admission Test
i) Section A: 40 questions on Quantitative (Mathematical) ability involving Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra, Geometry, Inequalities, Graphs (data interpretation), Sets, Relations and Functions etc.
ii) Section B: 30 questions on Analytical / Logic Reasoning
iii) Section C: 30 questions in Verbal Proficiency in English involving sentence completion, analogy, reading comprehension, antonyms, etc.
